3 Ways To Wear a Flannel

3 ways to wear a flannel

I have been raving about this super affordable flannel I found at Old Navy for the past couple of weeks, and there's a reason - it's such an easy piece to transition into several different looks. Here are three of my faves. (But really there are so many more!)

Now this one might seem a little too obvious, but it's the simplest way to wear this baby - as a light jacket. Here in Southern Cali, we get such fluctuating weather, that it can go from 75 to 55 degrees in under an hour. It's really all about layers. When I just want to be casual and cozy, I throw on my favorite jeans, a loose tee, flats, and a flannel.

I love bringing a seemingly casual piece to the next level by pairing it with something dressier. The juxtaposition is just so fun. This look was one of our first ever style videos at Séchoir - which we called Nod to the 90's, and it's still going strong. No longer is a flannel just about 90's grunge nod-back, but it's considered an elegant, staple wardrobe piece for fall and winter. Just look at all the J-Crew campaigns! Flannel with a sexy pencil skirt? Absolutely!

Think gangster polished here. Button it to the top and tuck it into your hottest trousers. Make sure to wear a heel to balance the masculine feel of wearing the flannel this way.

Although I tend to be partial to the affordable Old Navy options that come out every year, there are several different versions I also love here, here and here.

Happy Shopping!
