Where I'll be shopping for Black Friday & Cyber Monday
When I was writing for my old blog November Grey, I loved nothing more than a good fashion deal and sharing it with my readers. I was often the go-to for advice on how to make something affordably priced look chic and high-end. What can I say? Perhaps it was growing up in a family of seven kids on a tight budget that made me think creatively when it came to shopping, and getting the look I wanted for less.
I'm still a bargain hunter to this day and truly believe that even if you do have unlimited shopping funds, there's no need to always spend more. It's all about balance. Mixing high and low. And hello, what better time to save than pre and post Thanksgiving - Black Friday and cyber Monday madness!?
Here's some of my favorite online sources for deals, and where I'll be doing some major damage this week!
I'm a huge fan of this mega-brand and I never pay full price for anything. If you sign up for their emails, you'll constantly be getting 30-40% percent off at any given time. They're always having deals. Here's a tip: whenever you buy online, before you hit "checkout" make sure to google to see if there's a current promo code from the site that you may have missed. I'm a fan of Retail Me Not.
You need a black turtleneck in your life. It's so classic and can be worn casually with jeans, tucked into high-waisted trousers or a pencil skirt, even layered underneath a dress. This one is so affordable already, snagging it with an additional coupon code and you're scoring big time!
This sister brand to Gap has really stepped up their game lately, thanks to a short stint from Marissa Webb as Creative Director. Recently, and for the first time ever, Banana Republic showed at New York Fashion Week with the likes of some major fashion heavy-hitters. We were so busy working NYFW (see our video here) that we didn't have a chance to see it - but how cool is that?
Anyway, I'm obviously a fan. And you guys - I'm loving this dress so much. It reminds me of a vintage one I scored years ago. It's so flirty and fun and can be taken to that holiday party with heels and accessories (I'm envisioning a top not with a nude lip and a heavy bangle to let the fringe hem do all the talking.) It would also be super cute with little oxfords and a cropped jacket for a more casual affair. I adore the way it swings when you walk!
Stock up on your basics here. Just like Gap, Old Navy is constantly offering deals to bundle up on savings and they're offering up to 50% off the entire store through 11/27. We all need some simple V-Neck tees and I stockpile these in black and white. (I mean, they're FIVE dollars!) and even keep a couple handy in my car at all times. You never know when you'll need it, and a black or white V-Neck goes with everything. Super chic for mere dollars. I'm also insisting you give their flannels a try. They rival much more expensive ones and are such a steal.
I love to pair my flannel in an unexpected way with a faux leather pencil skirt (like in one of our first ever Séchoir videos) or more dressier items. Also check out: the super adorable felt panama hats which would make a perfect gift for your sis or BFF... or for yourself - let's be honest.
